Beethoven in 1805 by Joseph Willibrord Mähler
The opening notes of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony are iconic and immediately recognizable around the world. But do you know the rest of the symphony? It’s always good to re-visit Beethoven’s entire Fifth Symphony to be reminded just how good the rest of it is. Or maybe to introduce a young person to it for the first time. Performed by the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique on period-instruments as Beethoven would have written for in his time, the complete Beethoven Symphony No. 5 is today’s Midday Masterpiece.
