Composer Max Bruch in 1881
German composer Max Bruch said that his 3rd symphony is essentially a tribute to his native Rhineland area in Germany. He even wrote in a letter that it should have the title, ”On the Rhine.” Bruch’s symphonic love letter, his Symphony No. 3 from 1887, is today’s Midday Masterpiece.
