The symphony No. 3, the “English” Symphony, by English composer Sir Hubert Parry from 1889 was the most performed symphony in England in the next twenty years and had a strong influence on fellow English composers Ralph Vaughan Williams and Edward Elgar, as well as on the “sound” of subsequent English music traditions. Parry’s influential Symphony No. 3 is today’s Midday Masterpiece.
