Sergei Prokofiev | Color by Klimbim (Olga Shirnina) who grants free use.
Composers are hoarders, in a sense. They hold onto musical ideas they “might use someday” instead of throwing out material that isn’t working for them at the moment. Retrieving musical ideas from his sketchbooks and uncompleted projects from between 1911 and 1918 proved useful in 1921 for Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 which became his most popular piano concerto and one of the 20th century’s most popular. A recording of it with soloist Martha Argerich won a Grammy, and it’s today’s Midday Masterpiece.
