Wilhelm Stenhammar (1871-1927)
Swedish composer Wilhelm Stenhammar dedicated his 1915 Second Symphony to the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra for which he was Music Director for 15 seasons beginning in 1907. That very orchestra performs a 1983 recording of Stenhammar’s Symphony No. 2 for today’s Midday Masterpiece.
