Classical Music Playlist, May 17, 2024
After attending a performance of a Serenade for Winds by Mozart, Czech composer Antonín Dvořák completed his own wind Serenade in just a couple weeks, but in his own Czech musical accent. Dvořák’s friend Johannes Brahms (no less) would call this early work (1878) Dvořák’s greatest music to date. Dvorak’s “Serenade for Winds” is today's Midday Masterpiece.
