Florence Price (1887-1953)
The 2022 world premiere recording by the Catalyst Quartet of the String Quartet No. 2 in A-minor by Florence Price from 1935 is today’s Midday Masterpiece.
In their album notes, the Catalyst Quartet say of this Quartet: “It is truly a treasure to have such a monumental work for string quartet that captures so richly and dynamically the depth of Price’s unique Afro-romantic genius.”
