American composer Amy Beach (1867-1944) | photo by Rayhuff-Richter
Today we’re celebrating the 1867 birthday of American composer Amy Beach with a few of her pieces throughout the day. By 1900, Beach had become the most performed composer of her generation, and the first successful woman composer in America. Premiered in 1908 to great acclaim, the Piano Quintet in f-sharp-minor by Amy Beach is today’s Midday Masterpiece.
