Robert Schumann (1810-1856)
Creatives changing their mind about something they’ve created is pretty common. In 1841 Robert Schumann finished and premiered his 4th Symphony, but upon hearing it had second thoughts and shelved it for ten years! With a fresh perspective a decade later, he rethought the music, re-orchestrated it and other changes, and then felt comfortable sending it out into the world. Schumann’s 1851 revised Symphony No. 4 is today’s Midday Masterpiece.
