A very meticulous and intensely self-critical composer who destroyed many of his own works, Paul Dukas is mainly remembered for his Sorcerer’s Apprentice today. But one year before his most famous piece, he wrote a masterful symphony that pleased the most important critic – himself. Paul Dukas’s Symphony from 1896 is our Midday Masterpiece at 2pm.
