A flowering garden, by Van Gogh
"You can cut all the flowers, but you can’t keep the spring from coming," writes poet Pablo Neruda. He states a simple fact, of course, but he’s also voicing an emotional response to the season itself.
And no wonder, for in much of the world, spring means the end of winter, with warmer weather and the greening and blossoming of meadows and trees—and the blossoming of love, as well.
We’ve touched on the season before, but there is so much more music to explore in this hour—including works by Debussy, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, Delius, Respighi, Dvorak and Schumann.
