Bach through a Brazilian perspective
For all intents and purposes, he is 20th century Brazilian classical music. And yet the titles of his nine most famous works all bear the name of an even more famous German composer of the 18th century.
As a friend of mine put it so eloquently, "What's up with that?"
In this hour, an exploration of the Bachianas Brasileiras of Heitor Villa-Lobos—nine works that reflect his Brazilian heritage—and his lifelong admiration for the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
