Benjamin Britten’s first published work was a setting of A Hymn to the Virgin that he wrote at age 17, beginning his lifelong passion for creating direct and powerfully communicative works for the human voice. In addition to the Hymn to the Virgin, the program will highlight Britten’s Ceremony of Carolsand other holiday works.
