Excellence in Jazz is celebrating the women of jazz all month during Women's History Month. Tonight we shine the spotlight on vocalist Cecile McLorin Salvant.
- Began studies in classical piano in Miami at age 5
- In 2007 she moved to France to study law as well as classical and baroque voice, then transitioned to jazz
- Grammy Awards in 2016 & 2018 for Best Jaz Vocal album
- Downbeat Magazine's Jazz album of the Year in 2018 for "Dreams and Daggers"
- Wynton Marsalis said, "You get a singer like this once in a generation or two."
- Cecile has toured with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
