My classical moment occurred on a crisp fall day at Stone Mountain, Georgia in the fall of 1979. As we wandered through the park , I noticed guitar and strings seemingly oozing from the air all around us. I had never heard the piece before, and yet to my surprise realized that I knew the music through and through. I stood stunned and tingling in my tracks! This beautiful piece turned out to be the Adagio from Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez.
My AHA! moment finally arrived sometime later, when the realization came that the Adagio is one of my favorite pieces on Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain.
