I was driving to the grocery store recently and KXPR announced the next selection – Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto – the soloist, Alicia DeLarrocha. As the opening chords were played, I was transported to Davies Hall, San Francisco. This was the primary number for a concert that marked Ms. DeLarrocha’s 50th Anniversary Tour. I don’t remember the year, but I know I was there. I parked the care and simply let this gorgeous music wash over me. The clarity and talent of this amazing, petite dynamo has never been surpassed. I was very thankful to be able to re-create that wonderful experience.
