Break out your best headphones for the music of Tel Cairo. The hip hop duo creates intricate, ethereal soundscapes with layers of sound. Cameron Others and 7evin have been friends and collaborators for years, working as a duo on beats with electronic and alternative influences since 2013.
This spring, the duo embarked on their most ambitious slate of projects yet. Tel Cairo selected 40 songs from more than 70 tracks and released them on a four-album suite called “Black Is / A Tuesday Morning / Wednesday Is / A White Lie.” They also remastered and re-released their 2013 debut album “Voice of Reason.”
The tracks feature guest appearances by friends and musical collaborators Terra Lopez of Rituals of Mine, Mahtie Bush, Chuuwee, Blvck Achilles, Hobo Johnson, Caleb Heinze, Chhoti Maa, Task1ne, Ira Skinner, Jonah Matranga, plus vocal performances by Cameron Others. Then in September, Others released his solo album “Mission Control.”
Tel Cairo joins Hey Listen! host Nick Brunner in studio to talk about their musical collaboration and Other's journey as a solo artist.
