916 Ink, a Sacramento nonprofit that promotes literacy and writing, is publishing their very first comic book for the 916 Ink Makes Comics project. For 12 weeks Sacramento comic book author Eben Burgoon has instructed third, fourth and fifth graders at Capital Heights Academy on how to write a comic book.
Then in April, student-author teams paired up with local professional artists and illustrators to bring their comic book to life. We’ll talk with 916 Ink’s “wordslinger” Burgoon on creating the curriculum, with artist Sean Sutter on collaborating with junior authors, and with students Gleneisha and Acsah.
