Cooler weather and higher humidity levels have helped crews make progress against the King Fire burning in Placer and El Dorado counties, but the fire continues to grow. The latest figures had 87,592 acres charred with more than 5,000 firefighters working to put it out. It’s 18 percent contained and over the weekend, the US Forest Service confirmed that 10 homes and 22 outbuildings were destroyed by the fire in the Pollock Pines area. We’ll get the latest update on the King Fire from Capital Public Radio Regional Reporter Bob Moffitt.
