With events on every continent except Africa and Antarctica, Darwin Day is truly an international celebration.
While Darwin’s best-known achievement is his contribution to the theory of natural selection, people seem to connect with the 19th century naturalist because of his dogged curiosity and his unwavering search for the truth.
And while not everyone may agree with Darwin’s theory of evolution, he’s been recognized as one of the most influential figures in human history.
Sonoma State University Professor of Geology Matthew James is the keynote speaker at Sacramento’s Darwin Day celebration this Saturday. James is writing a book about the famous scientist called “Collecting Evolution.”
He joins Insight ahead of Saturday’s event to talk about the lasting legacy of Charles Darwin.
