A team of researchers based in Portland, Oregon became the first to repair a genetic mutation in a human embryo. Their work was published this week in the journal Nature.
A prominent cell biologist at UC Davis, Dr. Paul Knoepfler uses the same gene-editing technology, known as CRISPR. He joins Insight host Beth Ruyak to talk about the Oregon team’s results. Dr. Knoepfler writes a popular blog and gave a TEDx Talk in January titled “The Ethical Dilemma of Designer Babies.”
