The Trump administration has finished its review to determine if 27 national monuments should remain protected. The list included Berryessa Snow Mountain Monument, northwest of Sacramento.
Bob Schneider with the conservation group Tuleyome says the most recent signals from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke leave the fate of national monuments unclear.
"We heard, 'Oh, we're not going to rescind any national monuments. Then we heard, 'Oh but we're going to have huge cuts to some national monuments.' An area including Bear's Ears, Grand Staircase Escalante and Cascade-Siskiyou in California," says Schneider. "So that concerns us."
Schneider joins California District 4 Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, who represents the area around the monument, on Insight with more.
