Emil Guillermo became the first Asian American man to host a regularly scheduled network news program when he took the post of NPR's All Things Considered in the early 1990s.
His distinguished career in broadcasting included coverage of Tienanmen Square, the Persian Gulf War and key immigration stories throughout California.
He's produced a one man show about his life experience as a Filipino American and it's being performed at the University of the Pacific in Stockton.
