On July 11, 2016, two Sacramento Police officers shot and killed Joseph Mann in North Sacramento. The officers said Mann was wielding a knife. One of the officers is speaking out about the experience on the heels of being fired.

Officer John Tennis was on the other side of the gun from Joseph Mann, but the two followed a similar life trajectory in many ways. Sacramento News & Review Editor Raheem Hosseni spoke with Tennis and spent weeks speaking with Mann’s family as well.
