Rent Romus works on the cutting edge of jazz and saxophone composition. This weekend he's celebrating his 50th birthday with a concert at Gold Lion Arts, joined by Tony Passarell and the Thin Air Orchestra. In 2015, Romus appeared on Insight to premiere his Otherworld Cycle, which he spent 14 years researching and composing. The Otherworld Cycle blends modern improvisational jazz influences with the historical and cultural music of Finland and the Kalevala.
His concert at Gold Lion Arts runs from 8-11 p.m. on Saturday.
