Sacramento sports hall of fame athlete and special Olympian Donald Schendel recently passed away. Schendel is among the most recognized athletes in the region with 315 gold, silver and bronze medals from his years of competing in 9 different sports within the Special Olympics.

Beth Ruyak spoke with Schendel back in 2014 after he was inducted into the Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame. We revisit the conversation as the Winter Olympics in Pyeonchang continue, where it was a Bronze Medal for Lindsey Vonn in the Women’s Downhill Tuesday.
