Sacramento has a thriving urban dance scene with a variety of competitive teams. One of those crews is Press P.L.A.Y., a dance team that was founded in 2006 by Joe Larot and Brandon Greathouse on the values of passion, love, art and youth.
For the last four years, Press P.L.A.Y. has operated out of Step 1 Dance & Fitness. The team is mostly comprised of college students and full-time workers who commute from the Bay Area and greater Sacramento area.
Press P.L.A.Y. hosts an urban dance competition every year called Prelude Sacramento. Dance teams come from all over to compete and the winner takes home a cash prize and an invitation to Hip-Hop International.
Press P.L.A.Y. members Royce Legaspi, Vincent Martinez and Sebastian Sanchez explain how the dance crew came to be and what you can expect from the competitors this weekend.
The competition will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. June 2 at Sheldon High School Performing Arts Center.
