Immigration is a critical issue in the California governor’s race, and the Trump administration’s policy to separate immigrant children from their parents at the border has focused attention on the issue. Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox made a claim recently regarding his competitor in this year’s election, Democrat Gavin Newsom.
