California’s political leaders are gearing up for a fight over fuel efficiency standards. The Trump administration unveiled new rules yesterday to roll back those standards and relax tailpipe carbon emission standards.
The new plan undercuts California’s authority to enforce the state’s emissions standards, which are the toughest in the nation. In response, Governor Jerry Brown wrote in a Tweet: “California will fight this stupidity in every conceivable way possible.”
