Artist Melissa Uroff previews her solo show “Portraits of a Delusional Woman” at the WAL Public Market on Friday, Sept. 7 with a public reception. She paints photos of artists and musicians, placing them in surreal melancholy settings with elements of fantasy.

Uroff writes, “Often my job as an artist isn't taken seriously, and being a woman and a mother I find I have to fight rather hard to keep my career from being put on the back burner and looked at as a hobby when the truth is art pays my mortgage.”
