Former Sacramento Bee sports editor Bob Burns debuts his book “The Track In The Forest” about the 1968 US men’s track and field team, which won 12 gold medals and set six world records at the Olympic Games in Mexico City. The legendary team of athletes trained at Echo Summit near the California-Nevada border to simulate the elevation of Mexico City. The 400-meter track in El Dorado National Forest above Lake Tahoe forged one of the most accomplished track teams ever.
Bob Burns is hosting an author event on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Barnes & Noble in Folsom.
