Honoring Ancestors And Sacramento’s Mexican Heritage

Altar in honor of Junipero Serra, sponsored by the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento. The altar was constructed by Juan Carlos Altamirano, Workshop specialist at the Museo de los Cinco Pueblos in Nayarit.

 

Juan Carlos Altamirano of the Museo de los Cinco Pueblos in Nayarit state, Mexico, is in Sacramento to build an altar to Junipero Serra on behalf of the Mexican Consulate.

He’ll be in studio with Consul General Liliana Ferrer to discuss the project, the origins of the festival and the connections between Mexico and the Sacramento region.
