Vallecito resident Joel Metzger, his wife, Emily and their baby daughter, Kate, were gardening on a Sunday afternoon when they noticed a strange black SUV pull up to the historic building across from their house. When Metzger went to investigate, he got a surprise — Gov. Jerry Brown was in town to track down his roots.

Metzger, a local history buff, invited Brown and his wife, Anne Gust Brown, into his home to look at historic records from the Gold Rush town’s early days and passed a special afternoon with the outgoing governor. He joins us to talk about meeting Brown.
