Vocalist Sheila Jordan came to prominence as a jazz singer first in Detroit and later in New York during the 1950s, working with and learning from modern jazz innovators such as Charlie Parker, George Russell, Lennie Tristano and Thelonious Monk.
Hailed by critics for her constant creativity and adored by fans for her indominable spirit, Jordan is wrapping up a California tour this week with a performance in Roseville on Thursday. She took time out last Friday to talk with CapRadio’s jazz music director Gary Vercelli about her life and career.
Sheila Jordan will perform with the Jim Martinez Trio at a benefit for the Roseville Jazz Festival on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7:00 p.m.
