Jazz pianist and composer Dave Bass returns to Insight with a tribute to his favorite musical influences and a preview of his forthcoming album.
The Dave Bass Afro-Cuban Jazz Quintet will perform on February 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the CLARA Auditorium. The group features pianist Dave Bass, Jeff Sanford on woodwinds, Ernesto Mazar Kindelan on contrabass, and percussionists Colin Douglas and Carlos Caro.
The Quintet’s program includes arrangements of classic Cuban songs like “La Comparsa” by Ernesto Lecuona, La Mulata Rumbera by Frank Emilio Flynn, as well as original tunes by Dave Bass arranged in the Cuban Style. They will also perform songs in the Argentinian nuevo tango style with “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla.
Dave Bass also plans to release a new album this summer with vocalist Karrin Allyson and multi-instrumentalist Ted Nash on the Whaling City Sound label.
You can find a list of upcoming shows on the Dave Bass events page.
