This month, V-Day Sacramento will stage two presentations of “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant & A Prayer: Writings to End Violence Against Women & Girls” at the Guild Theatre and two presentations of “The Vagina Monologues” at The Sofia.
The show is a collection of monologues drawn from playwrights and authors, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle. V-Day Sacramento describes the show, “These diverse voices rise up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels. These writings are inspired, funny, angry, heartfelt, tragic, and beautiful. But above all, together they create a true and profound portrait of this issues effect on every one of us. ‘A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer’ is a call to the world to demand an end to violence against women.”
Here to discuss the show and V-Day Sacramento’s production are performer and artist Sarah Marie Hawkins, and co-directors Calla Jane and Syd Scanlon.
