Sacramento State’s Theatre Department is producing “In The Heights,” Lin Manuel Miranda’s eclectic, electric musical about the American immigrant experience. A cast of students and community members bring the story of a Washington Heights bodega owner, his friends and neighbors to the stage with athletic choreography and an impressive musical score.

Director Ed Brazo and cast member Will Schmidt join Insight to share the story with listeners, who can see the production on campus through Sunday, April 14. He’ll talk about the unique story, its connections to current events, and the challenge (and payoff) of taking on Lin Manuel Miranda’s unique blend of musical theater, hip hop and modern dance.
