Sacramento chillwave indie pop quartet Fashionista Boyfriend returns to Insight with their new record “Last Night”, which will be released on May 10. “Last Night” has been in development for about two years, inspired by a breakup for guitarist and vocalist Casey Groat and a desire to experiment with new synth and production techniques.
A lot has changed since the band debuted last summer. James Murphy has come aboard as the new bassist, replacing James Petropoulos. Murphy previously performed with Saint Solitaire and Ancient Astronaut. Saxophonist Miles Taylor and drummer Austin Mooney are still part of the group.
Casey Groat and James Murphy join Insight to talk about the new album and the development of the band in 2019.
You can see Fashionista Boyfriend perform at Neck of the Woods in San Francisco on May 11. They have another show in Davis at Sophia’s Kitchen on May 18.
