AP Photo The UN recognizes June 20h as World Refugee Day in order to celebrate the courage of immigrants who have been forced to flee their home countries, as well as their contributions to their new communities. Sacramento Republic FC will host a soccer tournament and community fair on June 8 to celebrate Sacramento’s newest neighbors and bring the community together in the name of the world’s game. Sacramento Republic FC COO Ben Gumpert, LeeAnn Danielson and one of the players in the tournament will join Insight to talk about the event and how Sacramento, one of the largest refugee resettlement centers in the country, welcomes people fleeing persecution.
