Late last week, the Sacramento Police Department released the findings from its internal investigation of the officers who shot and killed Stephon Clark on March 18, 2018. The investigation found the officers followed department policy and the training they had received. No charges will be filed against the officers, Terrence Mercadal and Jared Robinet, and they will be returning to active duty. 

The officers have also been cleared of wrongdoing in recent investigations done by federal authorities: the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI. Prior to police department and federal investigations, investigations were conducted by the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office and the California State Attorney General’s Office. Both of those investigations returned similar conclusions, resulting in no criminal charges filed against the officers.
