Northern California-based author Max Byrd writes popular historical novels based on actual events in American presidencies. He has fictionalized moments from the lives of Ulysses Grant, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. His new novel focuses on a mystery behind the murder of Abraham Lincoln.

Byrd joins Insight to discuss how the story he’s written relates to the Trump presidency and California’s resistance to administration policies. Host Beth Ruyak will ask: Is there any set of presidential circumstances that compares to the current whistleblower case? 

Byrd will also discuss this new book, "The Sixth Conspirator." It is based on a true set of circumstances surrounding the confidential mission to find and capture any Europeans (and fugitive Confederates) who might have helped John Wilkes Booth in murdering Lincoln.
