Serious Talk. Seriously. has been a who’s who of Sacramento since it launched in 2014. It’s a podcast that features casual sit-downs with the city’s artists, politicians, entrepreneurs, journalists and others. If you know someone who has done something cool or interesting in the Capital City, chances are they’ve been interviewed on this podcast.
Creator and host Johnny Flores wanted to highlight the interesting people he’s met in Sacramento whose work sometimes goes under the radar. Over the course of nearly 200 episodes, his guests have included Mayor Darrel Steinberg, comedians like Melissa McGuillicuddy and Keith Lowell Jensen, and visual artist Jared Konopitski. Flores has interviewed some of CapRadio’s own staff, including Devin Yamanaka and Nick Brunner.
On October 22, Flores will release the 200th episode of Serious Talk. Seriously. It will also be the final episode of the podcast. Flores joins Insight to discuss his decision to end Serious Talk. Seriously. His work in podcasting will continue through his company, Flores Podcast Consulting, and the Graphic Novel Explorers Club podcast, which he co-hosts.
Johnny Flores is hosting a podcast workshop for those interested in creating their own podcast on Saturday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Broad Room, 1409 Del Paso Blvd., Sacramento. Cost is $15. Register at eventbrite.
