Mystery author Catriona McPherson returns to Insight with two of her latest books.
The standalone novel “Strangers at the Gate” is set in a fictional sunless valley in Scotland in the middle of winter. A couple’s idyllic stay in a quaint rented cottage is disrupted by witnessing the brutal aftermath of a murder. The scandal makes it impossible to escape the secrets of their past.
McPherson’s long-running Dandy Gilver series continues with “A Step So Grave,” the thirteenth entry in the series. Set at windswept Wester Ross just before the wedding of Dandy’s son, the bride’s mother is murdered in a tale twisted with Gaelic folklore and superstitions.
You can see Catriona McPherson at her author event and reading for “Strangers at the Gate” at Capital Books on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. The store can accommodate up to 50 people, and you can reserve your seat by pre-purchasing a book.
