Mayor Steinberg proposed this idea not just for Sacramento, but for the entire state. Earlier this year, Governor Gavin Newsom named Steinberg to lead the Statewide Commission on Homelessness & Supportive Housing.
Steinberg believes the solution to California’s housing and homeless problem is a partnership between the public and private sectors. This includes a rapid expansion of tiny home construction. Steinberg wants Sacramento to invest $30 million dollars to jump-start this effort.
California has been facing an expanding homeless and home affordability problem, particularly in the state’s major metropolitan areas.
