“Dear Evan Hansen” is about belonging. The main character, Evan Hansen, has a social anxiety disorder. He creates a situation that gets ever more complicated over the course of the two act musical.
The plotline involves a letter, some deception, a tragedy, making friends and overcoming loneliness. “Dear Evan Hansen” is the winner of six 2017 Tony Awards and the 2018 Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
It’s a story that probably resonates with almost any high school student. Or grown up who was once a high school student.
