Beyond tariffs, California and U.S. wines are facing challenges they haven’t seen in a long while. On one hand, 2019 was a good year in the vineyards, but those vineyards face headwinds, as analysts describe problems in and changes to the industry.
Some of those include: a wine grape glut, the slowest wine sales in 2019 in 25 years, less alcohol being sold and consumed overall, younger people buying less wine and climate change.
