The play "North Star" features an African-American girl, Relia, who is facing life altering choices during the Civil Rights era. The piece is set in North Carolina in the 1960s. Relia is looking for her way, in her own life and in her surroundings.
Her parents are on opposite sides, whether to allow her to take part in demonstrations or protecting her from the struggle for civil rights in her own community. The play is being mounted by American River College with performances this month and next.
