Gov. Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers have less than a month to resolve the $54 billion deficit and pass a balanced budget.
Part of the plan to cover the massive deficit includes slashing some $119 million in spending that keeps more than 45,000 people out of nursing homes.
It’s a part of a series of budget cuts that target older adults, who are among most at risk of being infected with COVID-19. The state has until June 15 to vote and approve a legitimate spending plan.
