Colson Whitehead is the first fiction writer to win two Pulitzer Prize awards for back to back books.
In “The Underground Railroad” and “The Nickel Boys,” the latter of which comes out in paperback this week, Whitehead explores America’s history of racial injustice and mistreatment. He’s also finished work on a new crime novel that he started more than a year ago, with the working title “Harlem Shuffle.”
We talk with Whitehead today about his award-winning books, ongoing protests against systemic racism and inequality, and more.
