One of the most closely watched congressional races in the country during this year's election is playing out in the Sacramento region.
Candidates for the 7th congressional district seat, Democratic Rep. Ami Bera and Republican challenger Doug Ose faced off in their only scheduled debate leading up to the November election. District 7 stretches from Folsom to Elk Grove.
The debate took place in the KVIE-TV studios and was co-sponsored by Capital Public Radio, KVIE, the Sacramento Bee, the Center for California Studies at Sacramento State, Folsom Lake College and the Los Rios Community College District.
Following the debate, Insight aired a live one-hour analysis program hosted by Beth Ruyak and featuring Political Junkie Ken Rudin, who has analyzed every congressional race in the nation since 1984. Beth and Ken also interviewed each candidate after the debate.
